WhatsApp is finally giving iPhone users what they’ve been asking for for years. The ability to link multiple accounts on the same device without relying on workarounds. But there is a catch. The device is not yet available for stable version and is still in beta version for testing. In such a situation, those who are using the beta version of WhatsApp will be able to experience this feature. Meta has started testing the feature through a new beta build on TestFlight, and early users report that it’s already making life a lot simpler.

For a long time, people who managed separate personal and work numbers had only two options, either change the device or rely on the WhatsApp Business app as a patch. The experience was awkward, and it never felt like a true solution. But now this is changing. As WABetaInfo noticed, the latest TestFlight version comes with native multi-account support, suggesting that the feature is finally moving beyond hidden code references and into real-world testing.

Some testers have already noticed a new section inside the app’s Settings. According to WABetaInfo, “The option to add and switch between multiple accounts is now available in the app’s Settings menu.” Depending on the rollout, users may either see a new “Account List” area inside Settings or a dedicated button near the profile QR code. This is where they can directly add an additional account – no secondary phone, no business apps, and no weird hacks in between.

Right now, the beta limits users to two accounts, but the setup is surprisingly flexible. Testers can register an entirely new number that has never been used on WhatsApp before, reconnect an old account that was active on another device or on WhatsApp Business, or even add a companion account by scanning the QR code from another phone. Once linked, chats and preferences sync automatically, so the transition feels seamless.

Each account also operates independently. WhatsApp makes sure that chat history, backup preferences, and notification settings don’t move from one account to another, keeping things nicely separated. And to avoid confusion, the app will clearly mention which account a particular notification belongs to, something anyone with multiple numbers will appreciate.

What makes the timing interesting is that WhatsApp is also rolling out support for usernames, which hints at a future where phone numbers won’t be the only way to identify someone on the platform. Multi-account support fits nicely into that broader change.

There’s no confirmed launch window for all users yet, but given that real-world beta testing has begun, it doesn’t look like iPhone users will have to wait much longer. For now, only those with TestFlight builds can try it, but the groundwork is clearly in place for a wider rollout soon.
