Actor Ajay Devgan recently expressed his views on modern relationships and said that love has “lost its meaning.” His comment comes after the viral comment about “expiry date” for Kajol’s marriage.

Ajay in conversation with his ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ co-star R Madhavan bookmyshow The YouTube channel shared its thoughts on love. He said, “From where I see it, it’s become more casual than ever. The word love has been used so unnecessarily that it has lost its meaning. In our generation, you reached a point where you said ‘I love you’. Before, it was whatever, ‘like you’ or whatever. But I think, right now, people don’t understand the depth of that word so it’s being overused.”

Agreeing with Ajay, Madhavan recalled a time when people believed the term sincerely, even applying it to small tasks. “Now every message is accompanied by a heart emoji. All messages simply end with ‘love’,” he shared.

Madhavan further stated that love today has become “very casual”, suggesting that the feeling is now only comparable to the affection that people usually feel for their pets.

He stressed, “Once upon a time, there was great satisfaction in having your love. I really hope that the younger generation can feel the kind of comfort that we felt when we were in the company of someone we loved. Nowadays, you can compare it to the crazy love you feel for your pet, which is unconditional. I wish you could feel it for another human being.”

However, Ajay highlights, “The problem is that you love your pets because you know they won’t ask for anything in return.”

The interview came after Kajol said in the latest episode of her show ‘Too Much with Kajol & Twinkle’, “What says you will marry the right person at the right time? So, you should have the option of renewal. And if there is an expiry date, we will not have to suffer for very long.”

Ajay and Madhavan’s upcoming film – ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ also stars Rakul Preet Singh. Meezaan Jaffrey and others are in lead roles. The film will be released on 14 November 2025.
