Gujarati film Lalo: Krishna Sada Sahayate earned handsomely. Around Rs 5.50 crore (total Rs 4.25 crore) on its fifth Saturday at the Indian box office. The box office momentum of this film has been crazy. Remember, this film did not even collect crores of rupees. 5 lakh on the first day and now in the fifth week it is earning Rs 5 lakh. Daily collection 5 crores.
This is the first time that a Gujarati film has earned just Rs 50 crore. It has earned Rs 4 crore in a single day, but it has also crossed Rs. 50 million. It was expected that the film would reach Rs 100 crore. 4 crore mark and possibly Rs. 5 crores, but that was for Sunday. However, the film collected comfortable earnings on Saturday and can now aim for new highs today.
Most of the business is coming from home state Gujarat, although now Maharashtra is also having good collections. Gujarat itself was close to clearing the rupee. Yesterday the figure of 5 crores, just a little less. Many Hindi films have been successful in doing this in the past, but no Gujarati film has been able to do so, as Hindi films dominate the box office in the state. If it gets a normal bounce on Sunday, Lalo may challenge the numbers of some of these Hindi films today.
Lalo: Krishna Sada Sahayate’s total box office earning is now Rs. 25 crores and is on its way to cross Rs. Today the figure is 30 crores. After yesterday, the film now looks certain to emerge as the highest-grossing Gujarati film of all time, unless it sees a surprise drop at some point. However, considering what has happened so far, the chances of this happening are slim to none.
