Ancient fasting contradiction: Why can eating less than the best eating can cause harm

A new study combines fasting by stopping under 8 hours to high heart death risk.

An intermittent fasting (IF) and time-related food (TREs) have become extremely popular worldwide, usually praised for their weight loss effects.

But a new study published in The Journal Diabetes and Metabolic syndrome: Clinical Research and Review has raised new concerns about their safety.

The study analyzed data from over 19,000 adults in the US. They found that those who used to eat within a very small window of less than 8 hours a day had a 135% more risk of dying of heart disease, eaten over a more specific 12–14-hour period.

In simple terms, when fasting for less hours can help in weight loss, studies suggest that it can increase the chances of death from heart problems in a long time. Importantly, researchers warned that their results show a union, not evidence that fasting by stopping directly causes these risks.

What experts are saying

In an editorial published along with the study, Dr. Editor-in-Chief of Journal and India’s top endocrinologist. Anoop Mishra urged people not to panic but not to be vigilant.

“Entral fasting is simple, low cost, and shows the promise for weight loss and blood sugar control,” Dr. Mishra wrote.

He said, “But enthusiasm should be angry with careful risk evaluation. Fasting should be individually, supervised until long -term data is available, and ideally should be used for short -term goals only,” he said.

Profit and Downside

Previous studies have shown that intermittent fasting may help people to lose weight, improve blood sugar control, reduce blood pressure and even reduce cholesterol. It can also reduce inflammation, which is associated with many chronic diseases.

But fasting is not without risk. Some people experience nutrients deficiencies, headache, irritability or digestive issues.

People with diabetes may face dangerous drops in blood sugar (hypoglycemia), and in chronic adults, prolonged fasting may cause hatched or muscle decrease.

Connecting the debate, another paper published in the same magazine found that internal fasting can improve blood sugar control and metabolism in people with type 2 diabetes, showing how the results can vary in different groups and fasting styles.

alert

According to Victor Wenz Zhong, senior writer of chain study, “Our study provides the first evidence that individuals eating within the 8 -hour window were more likely to die of heart disease. People should be extremely cautious about adopting such small eating windows over years, because we do not yet have human studies that are proving long -term security.”

Dr. Chen’s study and editorial by Anoop Mishra, leading takes:

  • For less than 8 hours a day, food was linked to more than two times the risk of heart mortality. This dangerous data requires further studies.
  • All the reasons with the mortality rate were inconsistent and not strong.
  • An inner fasting provides metabolic benefits in some groups, but can cause harm in others especially without supervision.
  • More long -term random tests are required to clarify the recommendations to suit the safety and guide.
  • Ancient fasting can still be a useful tool, but it is not a shape-fit-all solution.

The new study adds an important warning: fasting for very few hours can lead to heart risk. “Obesity and diabetes require immediate solution, but fasting is not a magic pill. It can help something, damage others. The key is balance, supervision and privatization,” Dr. Mishra has sung it.
