Hidden effect of male breast on Indian men, why surgery is the only fix

Gynecomastia affects many Indian men, causing psychological crisis and social stigma. A new surgical method can provide a prudent, effective solution without visible scars.

In short

  • Gynecomastia causes psychological crisis in Indian men aged 20 to 40 years
  • The use of steroid in gym contributes significantly to male breast tissue growth
  • Surgery is the only effective treatment because medicines or exercises fail

For many Indian men, a health issue that rarely finds a voice in public conversations, is gynecomastia, usually known as “man boobs”, a condition that leads to the development of breast tissue in men.

Although in most cases harmless, it can lead to deep psychological crisis, especially when inadvertently abandoned.

Gynecomastia is the most common in men between the ages of 20 and 40, although it often begins around puberty. Hormonal changes during adolescence are normal triggers, and for some boys, one in six to eight, this hormonal shift resulted in the formation of visible breast tissue.

Dr. Rajat Gupta, Plastic Surgeon and Founder of RG Esthetics, New Delhi, and National Secretary of the Indian Association of Esthetic Plastic Surge. Rajat Gupta, Plastic Surgeon, Plastic Surgeon and founder of RG Esthetics, “Hormonal imbalance during hormonal imbalance, cures the hormonal imbalance itself after completing itself.” This is not fat that can be burnt with exercise or reversed with pills. It is the tissue of the actual glands, and the only way to remove it is through surgery. “

Psychological crisis

While the condition may look superficial for something, the emotional toll is very real. Social embarrassment, irritation and body-shamps are common experiences, especially for teenagers and young adults.

Dr. Gupta recalled a particularly annoying case-a 14-year-old boy who faced tireless bullying in school due to his chest. The ridicule was so intense that he was out and eventually tried to mutate his chest with a kitchen knife in a desperate attempt to “heal” herself.

Dr. Says Gupta, “It left a deep mark both physically and mentally. Even though I usually prefer to wait a patient by 17 or 18 years of age, in this case, psychological trauma was very serious, we had to move forward with surgery first.”

Steroid misconduct

While puberty is the most common trigger, another major cause is self -quiz – anabolic steroid use. As the culture of gym intensifies in Indian cities, Dr. Gupta has seen a stable stream of young men developing gynecomastia due to performance drugs.

“These steroids are converted into estrogen in the male body, which then stimulates the growth of breast tissue. We see about 30 to 35 patients with gynecomastia in a month. Many of them are regular gym-goers who did not know the risks of steroids use,” they say.

Unlike many other health conditions, there are no medical treatment or home remedies that can reverse gynecomastia once set.

There is no medicine that can melt this tissue. “People try weight loss, hormone therapy or herbal supplements, but nothing works. Surgery is the only effective treatment,” Dr. Says Gupta.

What is the solution?

Traditionally, the gynecomastia surgery leaves a small mark on the chest, something that, the irony, is that it can only be emotionally disturbing as the situation.

Dr. Says Gupta, “to give someone a flat chest and then leave a visible mark on the front.

This is why he inspired him to develop a new method – secret technology.

Instead of cutting through the front of the chest, the incision is made judiciously on the side. The mark is small, only 4 to 5 millimeters, and eventually resembles a minor acne mark.

“This is a decare process – you walk in the morning, exit the same evening. You can start normal activities from the next day and resume light exercise in two weeks,” they say.

Does it ever come back?

For most patients, the results are permanent. Repetition is extremely rare until there is an underlying hormonal disorder or the person goes back to steroid use.

Dr. “As long as we have denied any medical reasons, it is a one -time fix,” says Gupta.

For many men, it is not about pride to undergo this surgery, it is about regaining their confidence and quality of life. Nevertheless, due to stigma, most of them suffer in silence, never discuss it with friends or family.
