Director Lokesh Kanagarj is soon set to hit a big screen with Rajinikanth starrer cool. Before the release of the film on August 14, 2025, the filmmaker talked about his cinematic universe and how it would be incomplete without the Samvadhi victory.
Lokesh Kanagarj on the need of victory for LCU
Speaking at a preacher program for the cool, Lokesh Kanagarj said, “Without him (Thalapati Vijay), LCU is not present. However, I don’t know if it will be part of it now. If you want to know about it, you have to ask him yourself.”
He said, “We all know what his vision is today. For the sake of my film, I do not think it is the right time to discuss such matters. On any day, without the victory, LCU will not be completed,” he said.
Why is Thalapathy Vijay important for LCU?
For those unknown people, LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) is a series of mutual films made by filmmaker Lokesh Kanagraj. The universe, which began with the Karthi starrer Kathy, was expanded to another world, including Kamal Haasan’s Vikram (2022) and Thalapathi Vijay’s film Lio (2023).
Along with integrating all 3 films in the same story, it is to be further expanded with films like Benz and Kathy 2. In addition, Lokesh has also planned to create enterprises such as Vikram 2, Leo 2, and a standalone spin-off based on Suriya’s character Rolex within the universe.
However, Thalapathy Vijay is projected to retire from acting after his alleged final film, Jana Nayagan; Focusing completely on your political career. While an official confirmation is still left, we have to wait and see if the superstar is part of the LCU.
Lokesh Kangaraj Work Front
Talking about his next project Calli, Rajinikanth acted in the lead, an action entertainer. The multistarler flicker, including Nagarjuna Akini, Upendra Rao and Aamir Khan, is called a standalone enterprise unrelated to the director’s cinematic universe.
Shruti Haasan, Saubin Shahir, Satyaraj, with Pooja Hegde (dance number), and in lead roles, the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichender.
On the other hand, Thalapathi Vijay’s Jan Nayagan is a political drama directed by H Winith, releasing on January 9, 2026.
