Narivetta Review: Tovino Thomas starrer is a heavy story that lies in reality, but stumble with writing

Narveti, starring Towino Thomas in the lead role, was released in theaters on 23 May 2025. The film, directed by Anuraj Manohar, is an action drama based on real -life events during the 2003 Muthga incident.

As the film is released for streaming on Sonyliv, if you are interested in watching it then there is a Pinkvilla review.

Plot

Narveti, starring Towino Thomas, tells the story of Peter Varghese, a constable posted in a remote tribal area for security purposes. As the officer gets more involved with the local Milliu, he realizes the injustice faced by tribal communities.

The Peter is torn between the duty and sympathy to the officer, with the government being aware of the plans to reduce the status. What happens with Peter, and how it is resolved, make the full story.

Good

Narivetta is one of the stories that stick to the audience even after a few hours of seeing it. When it is reminiscent that this crimson-elastic story of oppression is based on a real event, it only makes the horror more poignant.

The film brilliantly captures the essence of the event and remains in line with the story. To convert himself into the character of Peter Varghese with Tovino Thomas, we realize ease and development in acting that the actor has developed over the years.

The symptoms written by Abin Joseph captured the criteria for what a character arc is considered. The film stands out of others in the same style, execution by Anuraj Manohar.

The director, whose first film Ishaq was based on real -life events around moral policing and hooliganism, is not behind in expressing reality through his films.

As we engage in the technical aspects of the film, Jake Bayuni once again proved why he is the most sought -demanding musician in Malayalam cinema. While the film has only one love song, viral ‘Minalwal,’ his background score in moments of stress is the backbone of the film.

Additionally, the cinematographer, Vijay, manages to create a blind hypnotic story with frequent editing by Shemer Muhammad in a non-renowned story.

bad

Narivetta, at its core, is a story of oppressed versus oppressors. While many films, such as Jai Bhima and Karnan, are standing out as industry standards, Tovino Thomas starrer struggled to match them.

The writing of the film struggles to maintain continuity, even if it is based on a real -life phenomenon. Although it is not clear that this is a deliberate creative option, the film fails to become a cinematic experience. Perhaps the story could be told more effectively in the form of a deep documentary rather than a fictional spin.

Apart from the fact that Nariweta stumbles in parts in her story and reduces the challenges facing the tribal community, the film still constantly reminds a history that we should not forget.

Display

Narivetta is packed with acute actors, and quite honestly, it is its biggest asset. As Tovino Thomas converts himself into a standard police constable, Suraj Venjaramudu balances a character that is still strong.

In addition, Cheron (in his Malayalam debut) was a fresh face to see in the film, stating why he was once considered one of the best actors in Tamil cinema.

With Arya Salim deserved a special mention, Priyamwara Krishnan did a clean job as Peter Varghese’s love interest.

Decision

Narivetta is the experience of a film that looks like a mirror in recent history, which many people must have forgotten. If you are someone who does not think of watching a deep action drama, then this Tovino Thomas starrer is really for you.
