Apple has introduced a major new feature in iOS 26 that makes cross-language communication much easier. It is called live translation, this tool will allow iPhone users to translate the conversation in real time, whether it is on phone calls, a facetime chat, or while sending messages. Unveiled during Apple’s WWDC 2025 event, this feature is powered by Apple’s own AI system and is a major leap in making interactions more accessible in different languages.
When you are texting, your message can be translated into the language of the recipient as you type. The upcoming messages will also be translated immediately into your favorite language. During the facetime call, the caption in your language will appear on the screen, while you will still hear the voice of another person. On regular phone calls, Apple says that you will listen to a spoken translation with the person’s original audio. Interestingly, this feature will also work with users who are not using the iPhone, although Apple has not yet confirmed how many languages will be supported in the launch.
In addition to the translation feature, iOS 26 brings a fresh form with a new design language called liquid glass. This visual style feels a transparent and fluid in the interface and reacts to your screen materials and movements. Apple has also improved the lock screen and home screen by making them more dynamic and adaptable. Your screen time can now adjust depending on your wallpaper, and reacts background as soon as you move your phone.
Apple’s three main apps, cameras, photos and safari are also overhalling. The camera app has a cleaner layout, the photo now distinguishes your main gallery in a more organized manner than the other collection, and the safari will allow full-screen web pages for better reading experience. Some apps such as music and news will include floating bar that disappear when scrolling and re-appear, offering more distraction-free layouts.
The iOS 26 will be available for a wide range of iPhone, which will start all the way from the iPhone 11 series to the upcoming iPhone 17 model. It includes SE 2nd and 3rd Gen with new iPhone 16E, all iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 series. With this update, Apple is not only refreshing how the iPhone looks and feels, but takes meaningful steps in using AI to know how people join and communicate globally.
