5 powerful ingredients to regulate your period — plus a simple tea recipe to try

Missed, delayed or irregular periods or abnormal bleeding patterns are classified as irregular periods. There can be many reasons associated with irregular menstrual cycles such as family history, menopause, physical stress, psychological stress, smoking or medication side effects. There are many ways to help you regulate your periods. In a recent Instagram video, hormone and gut health coach Manpreet Kalra shared a powerful tea recipe to control hormone imbalances. Apart from this, she suggested lifestyle and diet changes to improve menstrual cycles.

Here are 5 powerful ingredients used in making tea for irregular periods:

1. Fenugreek Seeds: Contains phytoestrogens which regulate hormonal imbalances

2. Cumin: stimulates and regulates your menstrual flow

3. Saffron: Reduces cramps and discomfort during menstruation

4. Coriander seeds: Reduces menstrual pain

5. Jaggery: Helps maintain regular menstrual cycles

How to make super tea for periods | Health drink recipe for irregular periods

The process of making this super tea is very easy. Take a pan and add 2-3 strands of saffron, 1 tsp fenugreek seeds, 1 tsp coriander seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds and 200 ml water. Boil the mixture till it reduces to half. Add 1 tsp jaggery to it. Your super tea is ready.

More diet and lifestyle tips to regulate menstruation:

1. Get up early

Wake up in the morning and sleep in the sunlight as it helps in keeping your cortisol levels balanced.

2. Period health drink

Consume this tea 2-3 days before your period date. Drink it early in the morning in ‘Malasana’ posture (sitting with legs together and back rounded).

3. Protein rich diet

Eat protein-rich foods as this improves your insulin sensitivity.

4. Exercise

Do strength training 3-4 times per week and cardio 2-3 times per week to improve menstrual flow.

5. Eat clean

Avoid processed foods and refined sugar as these can disrupt your hormones.

6. Mealtime

Keep a gap of 12-14 hours between dinner and breakfast as this helps in detoxification.

7. Take rest

Make sure to get 8 hours of sleep. Avoid using screens an hour before bedtime. Do yoga nidra before bedtime to improve sleep quality.

8. Consumption of dry fruits

To get relief from menstrual pain, eat soaked raisins 3-4 times before going to bed.
