At the Xiaomi 15 launch event in China tomorrow, October 29, the company will also unveil its second electronic vehicle (EV), the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra – following the launch of the Xiaomi SU7 earlier this year. Pre-orders for Xiaomi SU7 Ultra have already started in China. The prototype of the car was also revealed a few months ago. Now, this car is ready to debut in China.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is expected to target the high-end electric vehicle market with impressive specs and features. Although the official price is yet to be revealed, industry speculations suggest that it could be priced around CNY 800,000 (approximately Rs 95 lakh), positioning it as a potential competitor to the Tesla Model S plaid in China. Does it. This will put it above the standard SU7 model, whose price starts at CNY 215,900 (roughly Rs. 25 lakh).
The SU7 Ultra prototype, which was unveiled a few months ago, has been designed with a focus on delivering top-notch performance. It has a triple HyperEngine electric motor setup, developed in-house by Xiaomi, consisting of two V8s motors and one V6s motor. The motors are strategically placed at the front and rear wheels, delivering a combined output of 1,548 horsepower and 635 Nm of peak torque. Xiaomi claims that the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 1.97 seconds, reach 200 kmph in 5.96 seconds and hit 300 kmph in 15.07 seconds. Its top speed is reported to be over 350 kmph, with maximum downforce of 2,145 kg to ensure stability at high speeds.
The production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will closely mirror the prototype in terms of motor configuration, chassis design, battery pack, and other technical components. However, unlike the prototype, it will not feature a carbon fiber body due to concerns over the high costs associated with the use of the material.
A key component of the SU7 Ultra’s performance is its Qilin II battery pack, developed by CATL. Using advanced CTB (cell-to-body) technology, the 150 kWh battery is integrated directly into the vehicle body, contributing to structural integrity and weight balance. The battery can deliver a maximum power output of 1,330 kW, maintaining 800 kW output even when the charge level drops to 20 percent. The vehicle supports 5.2C charging multiplier, allowing it to be fully charged in less than 12 minutes.
Despite showcasing the SU7 in India, Xiaomi never released it in the Indian market, and the situation may be similar with the SU7 Ultra. As for the smartphone segment, Xiaomi will unveil the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro along with the EV launch, but only the standard Xiaomi 15 is expected to reach Indian shores.
