Entrepreneur-turned-politician Vivek Ramaswamy, who has been named in-charge of the government efficiency department along with Tesla owner Elon Musk, has hinted at huge cuts in federal government jobs in the United States.
Ramaswami, an Indian American, said, “Elon Musk and I are in a position to begin the mass deportation of millions of unelected federal bureaucrats from the D.C. bureaucracy. That’s how we’re going to save this country.” An event at Mar-a-Lago, Florida on Thursday.
“I don’t know if you know Elon yet, but he doesn’t bring a chisel. He brings a chainsaw. We’re taking it to that bureaucracy. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” he said.
“We have been taught over the last four years to believe that we have become a decadent nation, that we are at the end of the ancient Roman Empire. We only have a few shrinking pieces to fight for. I don’t think we should be in decline. We have to continue to be a nation moving forward. I think what happened last week, we are back to being a nation whose best days are really ahead of us,” Ramaswamy said.
“It’s going to be the dawn in America, the beginning of a new dawn, the beginning of a country where our children are going to grow up and we’re going to tell them and what that means for you to move forward in the United States of America again. With your hard work and commitment and dedication, that you are free to speak your mind every step of the way, that the best person gets the job regardless of their colour,” he said.
Meanwhile, Musk and Ramaswamy announced that they will be doing livestreams every week to update the American public on the progress of work by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Ramaswami said, “Our goal is to balance the size of government and be as transparent as possible with the public. The weekly ‘Dogecast’ will begin soon.”
He said, “DOGE’s mandate is to create a government of a size and scope that our founders would be proud of. Elon Musk and I look forward to fulfilling the mandate given to us by President Trump.”
However, Ramaswamy argued that too much bureaucracy meant less innovation and higher costs. “This is a real problem with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and countless other 3-letter agencies,” he said. And impose costs that stifle growth.” Ramaswamy said, “We are gathering the brightest minds in the country. It is equivalent to a modern Manhattan Project. I think the major problem holding our country back is federal bureaucracy. Target that cost, save money, restore self-governance,” he said.
