Actress Tripti Dimri has become nationally popular after starring in the 2023 film Animal. Tripti plays Ranbir Kapoor’s on-screen girlfriend Zoya, who later reveals his true plan in the second part. Despite a supporting role, the actress stole the limelight and earned fame after the film was released. Tripti recently called Zoya ‘brave and innocent’ and revealed why she signed Ranbir and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal.
During India Today Conclave 2024, Tripti Dimri opened up about why she decided to be a part of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial film Animal. Tripti admitted that the actress does not like staying in her comfort zone, which she found while working on her films Bulbul (2020) and Kaala (2022).
The Bad Newz actress felt the energy working on these sets, but unlike her previous works, she found working in Animal “quite challenging”. Tripti said it is important to sign films that will push her as an actor.
“Whenever I get a role, I think it is both scary and challenging. That is exactly what I felt when Sandeep sir told me about the character of Zoya. She looked brave and innocent at the same time and that excited me. I am always looking for roles that offer something different,” Tripti said at the event.
In the same conclave, Tripti Dimri was asked to choose either Ranbir Kapoor or Vicky Kaushal as her ‘3 AM friend’. Tripti mentioned her Bad News co-star Vicky Kaushal and said that she is very close to him.
Earlier, in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla in 2023, Tripti Dimri spoke about receiving recognition after the release of Animal last year. Calling it a “beautiful feeling”, Tripti shared that the Animal star received a lot of love from the audience and she felt quite special to experience the acknowledgement. The actress further added that her phone used to ring incessantly at that time and she used to have sleepless nights reading all the messages.
Tripti Dimri started her career in 2017 with Poster Boys alongside Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade. She then worked opposite Avinash Tiwari in Imtiaz Ali’s production Laila Majnu, which failed at the box office during its initial release. The 2018 film was re-released in theatres this year. Her other films include Bulbul, Qala and Bad Newz.
Tripti is now ready for director Raj Shandilya’s film Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. In this film with Rajkummar Rao, they will be seen playing the role of a married couple of the 90s. The team of Shandilya’s film is busy promoting it these days. The comedy entertainer will release on October 11, 2024. The film will clash with Alia Bhatt’s film Jigra at the box office.
The Bad Newz actress has several films in the future including Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Dhadak 2 and Aashiqui 3.
Talking about Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, Ranbir Kapoor plays dual roles of Ranvijay Singh and Aziz Haq in the film. Rashmika Mandanna has been cast as his wife Geetanjali Iyengar Singh. Tripti Dimri’s character Zoya is sent by Abrar as a honey trap for Ranbir’s character Ranvijay.
The 2023 action-drama also starred Anil Kapoor, Shakti Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi, Prem Chopra and Saurabh Sachdeva. Anil played Ranbir’s father Balbir Singh. Directed by Vanga, the film cast Bobby Deol in the role of the silent antagonist Abrar Haq.
