The Russo Brothers did their homework before approaching directors Raj and DK for Citadel: Honey Bunny. The filmmaker duo recently confirmed that the American filmmakers had watched Stree and The Family Man season 1 as part of their ‘preparation’.

Speaking to Indianexpress.com, Raj said, “I think he had seen the edit of The Family Man season one, it wasn’t released yet, and he had seen Stree!”

“But he did sample our work. I realized this later. Prime Video had shared edits of the show (The Family Man) with them. It was nice that the Russo Brothers asked us to keep our voice and style, but we had to fit into their universe, which was a balancing act,” said the director.

Revealing how things progressed, DK shared, “We went to meet the Russo Brothers in LA with a one-line concept and pitched it, and they were excited from the start. It could have also been an indigenous film, because Sita R Menon had this idea with the characters, and we built it from there keeping the universe of Citadel in mind.”

Citadel: Honey Bunny is the Indian chapter of Russo’s global series, originally starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. Indian stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen in action in Honey Bunny.

This series based on the 90s will be available to stream on Prime Video from November 7.
