TCL launched a few new smartphones with NxtPaper displays at IFA, but the company also expanded its tablet lineup with innovative display technology. It introduced the NxtPaper 14 tablet with a 14.3-inch display and a large battery.
The brand also announced the start of sales of the Tab 11 Gen 2 – this is a regular LCD tablet that was first introduced at MWC.
TCL NextPaper 14
The NxtPaper 14 features a 14.3″ NxtPaper 3.0 screen, the latest version of e-ink-mimicking displays. It filters out up to 61% of harmful blue light, while maintaining sharp images and full color.
The panel has a resolution of 2,400 x 1,600 pixels and up to 400 nits of brightness. The refresh rate is capped at 60Hz, while the touch panel supports up to 10 points and works with the TCL stylus T-Pen. The slate has a physical toggle that allows quick switching between regular, color paper, and ink paper modes.
The tablet packs a 10,000mAh battery that supports 33W wired charging. The hardware is nothing special, with a Helio G99 chipset, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It is a Wi-Fi-only device that doesn’t take cards – neither SIM nor microSD.
On the back there is a circular camera island for an 8 MP camera with AF, while on the front there are two cameras with 13 MP and 5 MP sensors. They also work for face unlock, which is the only biometric unlocking option, as the NxtPaper 14 does not have a fingerprint scanner.
The TCL NxtPaper 14 comes with Android 14 and is priced at €399. It will be available in Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa.
TCL Tab 11 Generation 2
TCL’s Tab series consists of no-nonsense slates with affordable prices. Here, the Tab 11 comes with an 11″ NxtVision screen, which is what TCL calls its LCD panel. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1200, and the panel supports up to a 60 Hz refresh rate.
TCL has equipped the Tab 11 with the Helio G80 and 6 GB of RAM, which is a big update over last year’s Tab 10 that ran on the older Helio P22 platform and didn’t have more than 4 GB of RAM. Also, the Tab 11 now has a micro SD slot that can expand the 256 GB storage up to 1 TB.
The device features an 8 MP camera at the back and a 5 MP selfie shooter. The battery capacity is 8,000 mAh and supports 18W charging (adapter is included in the retail package), and the Tab 11 Gen 2 runs Android 14.
TCL has launched the Tab 11 Gen 2 in Grey colour for €199. The tablet will go on sale in Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific markets.
