Taylor Swift has unveiled Taylor Swift: The Eraz Tour Book, an intensely personal and visually stunning publication that takes fans behind the scenes of her record-breaking Eraz Tour.
Lasting nearly two years and encompassing 152 shows in 54 cities, the tour celebrated every phase of Swift’s career, covering ten (eventually eleven) of her albums in a three-hour and fifteen-minute setlist.
The book, released on 29 November, highlights the concept, production and execution of the tour. Swift reflects on her creative journey, providing insight into her favorite moments, the effort behind the spectacle, and her enduring connection with fans.
In the book’s introduction, Swift reveals how the idea for The Eras Tour emerged during the production of her Midnights album. Rather than embark on a traditional album-specific tour, he envisioned a concert experience celebrating his entire discography. “I wanted to commit completely to each era, musically, stylistically and aesthetically,” she writes.
This ambitious idea was fueled by their recent work on re-recording their early albums and three albums (Folklore, Evermore and Midnights) that had not yet been performed live. Swift outlined a tour that would honor old fans while introducing new ones, which she describes as a utopia in her vast catalogue.
Lover
Swift began each show with the track Lover, symbolizing a new beginning. Calling the track an energetic spark, she writes, “It was supposed to start with ‘Cruel Summer’.” She recalls the vivid imagery of pink sunsets aligned with Lover’s beauty and how her dazzling Versace bodysuit became a source of strength on stage.
fearless
This era paid homage to Swift’s adolescence, full of glitter and youthful dreams. A standout feature was his shiny guitar, which was lovingly decorated by his parents and brother. She fondly remembers the energy of the fans during Love Story, which was often punctuated by real-life crowd overtures.
Prestige
Swift described the Reputation era as her most dramatic entrance of the night, featuring pounding synth beats and bold visuals. During the delicate, the fans cheered the atmosphere by chanting “1, 2, 3, let’s go b—”.
folklore and evergreen
Swift’s pandemic-era albums brought a change in tone. He wrote about the cabin in the woods set piece and the extremely beautiful torch homage during Marjorie. Willow’s woodland fantasy felt like stepping into a magical realm, with velvet capes and glittering jewelery creating a wizard-like atmosphere.
A notable addition to the tour was The Tortured Poets Department, which was introduced during the European leg. With a minimalist white design by Vivienne Westwood and a rover platform operated by a hidden crew member, Swift aimed for an otherworldly aesthetic.
The acoustic part evolved over time, moving from rare deep cuts to complex mashups of thematically linked tracks. Swift recalls diving onto a stage that turned into the ocean and thrilling the audience with the illusion.
Throughout the tour, Swift performed in every imaginable condition, rain, heat, and freezing cold. She credits her team for her commitment to health and stamina. “We do it because we love creating joy and surprise,” she writes.
