Ali Khan Tughlaq, son of Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan, has been arrested along with nine others for their involvement in possessing and selling banned drugs. The arrests came after a comprehensive investigation by a special team which was tracking a gang selling ganja (marijuana) and other narcotics under the alias ‘OG’.
The investigation began with the first arrest of Zidane Zubin, a key member of the drug cartel, whose interrogation led authorities to expand their investigation. Based on his information, the team traced Ali Khan Tughlaq and other accused, who were arrested on Tuesday.
Of the 10 arrested persons, seven, including Ali Khan Tughlaq, were produced before the Ambattur court, where they were remanded to judicial custody.
Zidane Zubin’s phone records, which included GPay transactions allegedly used to pay for drugs, proved vital in identifying other members of the gang.
Investigation revealed that the gang was smuggling ganja from Andhra Pradesh, with Muhammad and Jayamujin of Mannadi playing a key role in the operation. The duo were targeting students of a private college in Kattankulathur and were also arrested in connection with the case.
Authorities have launched a large-scale investigation, and more information is awaited as the case unfolds.
