Suriya and director Karthik Subbaraj’s much-awaited film Retro is set to release on May 1, 2025. This is the first collaboration between the renowned actor and filmmaker, creating high expectations among fans.
Announcing the release date on X, director Karthik Subbaraj shared a new poster, captioned: “The one from May One!! #Retro #LoveAfterWar #TheOneMaven (sic) in theaters worldwide from 1st May 2025.” The poster shows Suriya in an intense look, which has increased the anticipation.

The film has an ensemble cast, which includes Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar and Prakash Raj along with Suriya. Adding to the attraction, Shriya Saran is set to make a special cameo appearance.
The makers recently unveiled the title teaser of the film on Christmas, giving a glimpse of its emotional yet action-packed story. The two-minute, five-second teaser begins in the serene ghats of Varanasi, showing a tender moment between Suriya and Pooja Hegde’s characters. Draped in a light pink saree, Pooja ties a sacred bandage on her wrist as Suriya’s character vows to leave behind a life of violence and adopt love as his guiding principle.
