‘King of Romance’ Shah Rukh Khan is often lauded in the Hindi film industry for his humble nature, witty humour and candid views. Several B-Town celebrities including actor Riteish Deshmukh, casting director Mukesh Chhabra and actor Raghav Juyal have praised Shah Rukh for seeing off his guests till they get into their cars. Popular Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan recently expressed that Shah Rukh has good manners and recalled how the superstar hugged him during the filming of Veer Zaara.
During a new interview with TV9 Digital, Gurdas Maan reminisced about working with Shah Rukh Khan on the sets of Yash Chopra’s 2004 film Veer Zaara. Gurdas praised Shah Rukh and said how much respect the superstar had for him.
“He hugged me when he hugged me, such a fun loving hospitality… I hugged him a lot, he gave me jo peena tha khana tha wo khilaa aur gaadi tak baithak gaya (I really liked the way he hugged me. The way he showed his love and hospitality towards me (was commendable). He took me in his car and whatever I wanted to eat or drink, he arranged everything for me and dropped me to my car),” Mann said.
Elaborating on this, Gurdas Maan said that Shah Rukh has respect and manners and this is what makes him a true artist. Maan sang Aisa Des Hai Mera with Lata Mangeshkar, Udit Narayan and Preeta Majumdar. The veteran folk singer also sang the Lodhi track with Mangeshkar and Narayan.
Gurdas Maan is considered one of the most influential Punjabi singers of all time. In 2015, Maan collaborated with Diljit Dosanjh for MTV Coke Studio India to sing the song ‘Ki Banu Duniya Da’.
Talking about Veer Zaara, this 2004 film was re-released in theaters on September 13, 2024. This romantic drama film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji in lead roles. The story revolves around two lovers, Veer Pratap Singh and Zara Hayat Khan, who are from India and Pakistan respectively and meet again after decades. It also starred Manoj Bajpayee, Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani and Divya Dutta in important roles.
