Shabana Azmi said Mithun Chakraborty was conscious about his skin colour
Shabana Azmi revealed in an interview how her mother Shaukat Kaifi encouraged Mithun Chakraborty when he started worrying about his skin colour. The two actors worked together in several films including ‘Hum Paanch’ and ‘Sameera’.
Actress Shabana Azmi, who has worked with Mithun Chakraborty in films like “Hum Paanch” and “Sameera”, recalled how the “Disco Dancer” star was conscious about his skin colour.
During a conversation with Arbaaz Khan on The Invincible series, actress Shabana Azmi revealed how her mother, theatre and film actress Shaukat Kaifi, encouraged Mithun. She said, “I remember Mithun Chakraborty used to come to our house and he was very conscious that he was not fair complexioned and his dates were like this.” He was very conscious that he was not fair complexioned and his teeth were like that.
“And my mother would hug him and say, ‘Don’t worry about it. You dance so well.’ So, that kind of encouragement that he got from the IPTA (Indian People’s Theatre Association) people as well as us, it was just positivity all around, just a confidence booster (and my mother would hug him and say, ‘Don’t worry about it. You dance so well.’ So, that kind of encouragement was given by the IPTA people as well as us),” the actor said.
Mithun Chakraborty was Shabana Azmi’s junior in FTII. They have also worked together in films like ‘Hum Paanch’ and ‘Sameera’.
