The USA Gymnastics team is a champion of style in the arena, too

Simone Biles and Team USA Gymnastics won their first gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday. With the win, Biles won her fifth gold medal at the Olympics. The athlete shared photos of their celebration event on Instagram, with the quintet wearing matching glittery leotards. While the group looked stunning, there are a few hidden details you might not have noticed. Influenced by the host city of Paris, the outfit incorporated French fashion motifs in its design. However, it stayed true to its American roots with references to the “Star-Spangled Banner” and Fourth of July fireworks in red, white and blue.

The team’s Tuesday final leotard honored the 1996 U.S. women’s gymnastics team. The 1996 gymnastics team made history when they won the first-ever U.S. team gold in the women’s all-around competition, becoming known as the “Magnificent Seven.” The 2024 version features a similar motif with a modern touch of crystals, an improvement over the 1996 leotard that lacked any shiny details.

Remember the time Simone Biles stole the show at the 2021 Met Gala? Her elaborate custom-made gown was created by sportswear apparel brands Athleta and Aria. The gown featured a dramatic train with Swarovski crystals. The black bodysuit made the whole look even better. She tied her hair in a neat bun. For accessories, diamond tassel earrings were enough.

Simone Biles is one of the most medaled Olympians in recent history. The Ohio native made her debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She is now a five-time Olympic gold medalist. She once said, "I'm not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. I'm the first Simone Biles."
