Not based on Dhurandhar Major Mohit Sharma: Aditya Dhar sets the record straight
After Major Mohit Sharma’s brother raised concerns, director Aditya Dhar clarified that Dhurandhar is not based on the life of the late soldier. Ranveer Singh plays an unknown role in the film.

stalwart Director Aditya Dhar on Wednesday clarified on social media that his film is not based on the life of Major Mohit Sharma. He responded to an X post shared by Sharma’s brother Madhur Sharma and set the record straight by calling his post an “official announcement”.

Dhar took note of a tweet by Madhur Sharma on Twitter and respectfully replied: “Hi, Sir – our film Dhurandhar Bahadur is not based on the life of Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM. This is an official clarification. I assure you, if we make a biopic on Mohit sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in full consultation with the family, and in a way that it will truly honor his sacrifice for the nation and the legacy he left for all of us. Jai Hind (sic).”

Major Mohit Sharma was an officer of the elite 1st Para (Special Forces) unit of the Indian Army and a posthumous recipient of the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award. On 21 March 2009, he took part in a fierce encounter with terrorists in the Hafruda forest of Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir. He killed four terrorists and saved two teammates in the process, but was hit by several bullets.
