Actor Mohanlal has apologized on the riot references in his film L2: Imapuran. The Malayalam Star released a statement on social media amidst the row running on Sunday.

Malayalam star Mohanlal has released a statement on the line going on on his film L2: Empuran. The film is caught in the midst of a controversy for the 2002 Gujarat riots. The Malayalam star has apologized to the audience for creating a “crisis”.
“I know that some political and social subjects presented in the construction of ‘Impuran’, the second part of the ‘Lucifer’ franchise, have created a lot of crisis for many of my loved ones. As an artist, it is my duty to ensure that any of my films are hostile to any political movement, ideology or religious sect.
He said, “I have lived my film career as one of you for the last four decades. Your love and faith is my only strength. I believe there is no Mohanlal who is greater than that … with love, Mohanlal #L2E #Puran (SIC),” he said.

Recently, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also attended the film screening in the state and supported the Emperan team in the discussion, stating that freedom of expression should be preserved at all costs.
