Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor’s wife Mira Rajput, who recently launched her own skincare brand, has revealed in a podcast that she was close to having a miscarriage when she was pregnant with Misha. She was advised to take complete bed rest for three months.

In a conversation with Prakhar Gupta for his podcast, Mira revealed, “A lot of people don’t know this. When I was pregnant with my daughter – it was my first pregnancy and you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m 21-20, whatever’. I’m healthy, and I’m very fit and I’m in the best phase of my life in terms of having babies. What’s the worst that could happen? And, when I was four months pregnant, I was about to have a miscarriage. (I) came back and got a sonography done and the doctor told me, ‘Just lie down’.”

She said that after the sonography, the doctor was worried and she felt stressed. She was then told that her uterus had dilated and she could ‘lose the baby any moment’. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and asked to lie down and was advised to take bed rest for three months.

“At the end of two-and-a-half months, I was thinking ‘I really want to get out of here’ but I couldn’t get out of bed. So, Shahid spoke to my doctor and told him, ‘I will make the house a hospital. I will set up the bed, and get everything set up, but let her stay at home. Let her feel that she is comfortable.’ He could see that it was taking a toll on me mentally,” she shared.

However, it didn’t go well. She added, “So, we did that, went back home, my whole family came to see me, to surprise me. I was so overwhelmed that I started having contractions. So the doctor came and told me ‘I have to take you back to the hospital’.”

She believes that something changed that day and she made up her mind that she did not want to go back to the hospital. Once she had this change in her mind, she felt a ‘pull from within’.

Misha was born in 2016, a year after she married Shahid Kapoor. The couple welcomed their second child, son Zain, in 2018.
