Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Adults It has been facing constant scrutiny since its teaser received several complaints from religious groups and activists. Amid the growing debate, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) President Dr. Jayamala has urged the public not to jump to conclusions before the film gets certification.

Controversy began when the National Christian Federation and other activists alleged that some scenes in the teaser disrespected St. Michael and could hurt Christian sentiments. Additional objections included some scenes being obscene and unsuitable for family audiences. Women’s groups have also sought a review from the Karnataka State Commission for Women and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), demanding strict scrutiny of the promotional material.

Responding to the controversy, Dr. Jayamala said that it would be unfair to evaluate the film based on the teaser alone. “There have been complaints about toxic tasers, but I don’t know what exactly is wrong,” he said, indicating that the matter needed a proper review. He stressed that the teaser was merely a glimpse created to attract audiences and not the final version of the film.

He said, “The teaser is just a glimpse created to attract the audience to the theatres. It is too early to discuss the film before it is reviewed by the censor board. Filmmakers invest hundreds of crores of rupees in their work, and the audience should watch the entire film before forming any opinion.”

Dr. Jayamala further said that the makers have denied the allegations of offensive or obscene content. He reiterated that the film is yet to be reviewed and certified, and any concerns identified by the appropriate authorities will be addressed through the established regulatory process.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Adults Stars Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. Subject to CBFC certification, the film is scheduled to release on March 19.
