Kamal Haasan on working for a limited time in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’: My real role has just begun
Kamal Haasan recently shared his thoughts about his brief role in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ during a press meet in Chennai. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film has grossed Rs 298.5 crore worldwide within two days of its release.
Kamal Haasan is enjoying the success of his recent film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. Recently, the actor spoke about his limited screen time in the film.
“In Kalki, I play a small role that appears only for a few minutes. My actual part in the film has just begun and I have more to do in the second half. So, I watched the film as a fan and I was surprised,” the actor said during a press meet in Chennai.
He added, “We are seeing many signs that Indian cinema is moving towards global entertainment, and Kalki 2898 AD is one of them. Nag Ashwin has carefully handled the subject of mythology without any religious bias. Across the world, only Japan, China and Greek civilisations can come close to the Indian heritage of storytelling. Ashwin has picked stories from there and has executed it with a lot of patience by bringing it all together.”

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ was released in multiple languages on June 27. Within its first two days in theatres, the film grossed a remarkable Rs 298.5 crore worldwide across all languages.
On its opening day, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ earned Rs 95.30 crore in India and Rs 191.5 crore globally. Saconilc As per reports, the film earned Rs 54 crore on the second day, taking its second day collection to Rs 149.30 crore. According to a post on the film’s official Instagram handle, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ earned Rs 298.50 crore worldwide.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in lead roles. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is based on a dystopian world.
The post-apocalyptic film is inspired by Hindu scriptures and is set in the year 2898 AD. On the work front, Kamal Haasan will be next seen in ‘Indian 2’ where he will play the role of Senapathi. The film will hit the theatres on July 12.
