Indian cinema is ready to see an epic reunion as well -known superstars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth confirmed that they will act together in a film after 46 years. The announcement was made by Kamal Haasan on 6 September during the Nexa Siema Awards 2025 event in Dubai. While details about the project are kept in wrapped, it is rumored that the film will be Lokesh Kanagar of the fame of ‘Vikram’ and ‘Cooli’.

Rumors about possible cooperation had been roaming for weeks, and Hassan’s confirmation has given happiness to the enthusiasts of Tamil cinema. During the incident, Haasan said, “We united long ago, but chose to live separately because they (the director) kept dividing a biscuit and kept giving us only half. We wanted each full biscuit to each, and we got it well and remembered it well. Now we are satisfied with half the biscuits, so we have come together again.”

The fans are thrilled about the reunion of these two prestigious actors, not seen on screen since the 1979 ‘Alwoodinum Ethabuta Vilakumum’.

Both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan found their position in the film industry under the guidance of the late director’s Balchander, starring in several films during the 1970s. His collaborations include popular films like ‘Apoorva Ragangal’, ‘Mondru Mudichu’ and ’16 Vyathinyel ‘.

The ‘Thug Life’ actor also remembered how he never saw each other as contestants. “We have got such opportunities, this is a very big thing. We decided long ago that they should be like this and set an example. This is how he has been, how I am. So when this reunioning can be a surprising business-wise, we are not surprised. Kamal Haasan also claimed that he wanted to produce each other’s films, but returned on his own.

Discussion around Lokesh Kangarraj, who directed the film, is important, as he has previously worked with both actors in separate projects – Rajinikanth in ‘Coolie’ and Kamal Haasan in ‘Vikram’. Kanagarj has expressed a desire to direct the two actors several times before.
