Jana Nayakan starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role is scheduled to release on January 9, 2026, coinciding with Pongal this year. Directed by H. Vinoth, the makers have finally released the trailer, promising an intense action drama as a tribute to the actor before he retires from cinema.
Jana Nayakan Trailer: Thalapathy Vijay is all set to bring a partial remake of Bhagwant Kesari, with his own twist
Jan Nayagan’s 2 minute and 52 second trailer features Thalapathy Vijay as Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, also known as TVK, a former police officer and convict who raises Viji, a young woman obsessed with a certain phobia.
However, when nefarious forces threaten to spread chaos across the country, TVK must muster his strength to not only protect his daughter but also save the country from the deadly Bobby Deol.

The trailer starts by introducing Vijay as TVK, who adopts Viji at a young age and raises her as his daughter. Since he intends to raise her as a strong and capable woman, Thalapathy wants her to join the army and overcome her fear to serve the country.
Amidst all this, a new threat emerges against them and the country, with Bobby Deol being introduced as an international criminal with a sinister mission bent on ruling the country.
While so far the film appears to be an adaptation of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagwant Kesari, other aspects of the trailer suggest otherwise. It features Thalapathy becoming a public hero, serving the people and fighting against AI-powered humanoid robots. According to reports, the film will also have many violent action sequences.
Along with impressive visuals and powerful soundtrack by Anirudh Ravichander, the trailer also captures several tribute moments to the superstar. In an interesting twist, the actor has changed his iconic phrase from “I’m waiting” to “I’m coming”.
