Vijay’s Jana Nayakan faces further delays pending CBFC certification. The makers of the film now aim to fix a new release date coinciding with Vijay’s birthday and Muharram holidays.
Vijay’s famous film Jan Naygan It is facing continuous delays, due to which there is uncertainty over its release. The project was originally expected to hit theaters on January 9, 2026, but reports have indicated that pending certification issues have halted progress. After repeated delays, the makers are said to be eyeing a June 2026 release date.
Amidst the uncertainty, a fresh update from Tamil YouTube channel Valai Pechu reveals that the team is exploring an alternative release window. If the necessary formalities are completed on time, the film could potentially hit the theaters in June 2026.

The tentative date under consideration is June 18, which is strategically placed close to Vijay’s birthday on June 22 and coincides with the Muharram holiday period, which could provide an extended weekend advantage.
However, if the June plans do not come to fruition, reports indicate that the makers may consider an earlier summer release window instead. At this point, June remains the preferred target, subject to certification approval and internal scheduling decisions.
According to multiple industry sources, the delay is linked to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). It is reported that the review committee has not yet started the review process. It is also said that the newly appointed panel has neither initiated re-censoring proceedings nor issued a formal communication to the film’s production house, KVN Productions. Without certification clearance, manufacturers are unable to lock in a firm release date, leaving distributors and exhibitors in a wait-and-watch situation.
However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers regarding the revised schedule. At present, sources indicate that internal discussions are ongoing, with June emerging as a possible option if regulatory hurdles are cleared in the coming weeks.
