Silambarson’s upcoming film ‘STR49’ has speculated about Vartitraran’s possible relationship of ‘Vada Chennai 2’. However, the acclaimed filmmaker has now set the record straight, confirming that ‘Str49’ is not the sequel to Dhanush’s 2018 film ‘Vada Chennai’.
In a video shared by the producer Grass Root Film Company, Wetrimaran clarified that Dhanush holds ‘Vada Chennai’ and copyright for its sequel. He emphasized that ‘Str49’ is a separate project, although it is set in the same universe.
The filmmaker said, “STR49 Vada is set in the world of Chennai, but this Vada is not Chennai 2. Since Dhanush is the owner of Copyright, I told him that I was making a film with Silambarson in the world Chennai. Dhanush did not ask for a single rupee and agreed to give a lot.
In the same video, Vartarran talked about his strong bond with Dhanush, remembering how the actor supported him during a financial shock.

Filmmaker and Silambarson have already started shooting for ‘Str49’. Sources close to the team told India Today that director Nelson Dilipkumar will appear in a cameo. Actors Kavin and Manikandan are also expected to join guest roles. An official announcement is awaited.
