Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is one of the most iconic films of Indian cinema. The classic film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol still lives in the hearts of the audience. Amid the re-release of old films, fans are hoping to get a chance to watch the 2001 family drama again in theatres. Director Karan Johar has now reacted to the re-release and revealed his plans for K3G.
Karan Johar wants to re-release ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ on this special occasion
Today, on June 28, Karan Johar was present at the trailer launch of his upcoming film Bad Newz. On this occasion, the filmmaker was asked if he would release his evergreen film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in theatres again.
In response, Karan first expressed his excitement about the recently re-released films. Talking about the re-release of Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rockstar, Karan said he has been watching Instagram reels about it and expressed his happiness to see such a “cult” film getting so much love again.
Karan found the phenomenon of re-releasing certain films “great” as an entire generation has grown up watching them.
Talking about Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Karan said, “I think when K3G completes 25 years, I think we should re-release the film.” KJo revealed that he hasn’t seen the film in 23 years as he only watches his own films properly once they are ready. He admitted to watching some scenes and dialogues on social media.
Karan confessed that he would like to re-release K3G when there is an “important milestone”. He also hoped that all the special films, like it happened with Zoya Akhtar’s projects and later Rockstar, will continue to be re-released. Karan said, “We should constantly remind everyone that Hindi cinema is amazing.”
