Keanu Reeves fans have thanked actor and producer Eva Longoria for the success of the John Wick franchise. The billion-dollar franchise is an action film that single-handedly revived Reeves’s sluggish film career, and catapulted him to superstardom after the Matrix series. And now, John Wick makers have revealed that when funding for the film fell through, it was actor Eva who stepped in to make up for the lack of financing.

On the film’s tenth anniversary, director-producer Chad Stahelski told Business Insider, “We were out for less than a week, and we lost about $6 million on gap financing. We were free to get the bonds. We were financing it formally, but one of the investors could not raise the money on time,”

Stahelski said, “She (Eva) came to the rescue, and she provided gap financing, literally less than 24 hours before we had to close the doors on the film and walk away.”

It’s safe to say that the investment has paid off, with the John Wick franchise ultimately grossing over a billion dollars globally.

The last installment of the John Wick franchise, John Wick: Chapter 4, was released last year to critical and commercial acclaim.
