The Indian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates provided all possible legal assistance to the Indian national Shahzadi Khan executed in the UAE, including sending Mercy petitions and requests to the UAE in the United Arab Emirates, said the Ministry of External Affairs.
Khan was convicted on charges of killing an infant and sentenced to death in the United Arab Emirates. The Supreme Court of the United Arab Emirates, the Court of Cassation, upheld the sentence.
UAE officials said for the embassy on February 28 that Khan was sentenced to according to local laws. Shahzadi’s family was made aware of the matter, Mea Division said.
In a heartbreaking turn of incidents, additional Solicitor General (ASG), appeared to the Center, informed the court that Uttar Pradesh’s woman Shahjadi Khan was killed on 15 February.
The ASG also said that the authorities are providing all possible assistance to his family, and his funerals are scheduled for March 5.
The father’s petition for the MEA intervention for his daughter on the UAE’s death line ended in the tragedy, and as a result, the court settled the petition.
Ministry of External Affairs (Mea), Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Chetan Sharma and Advocate Ashish Dixit informed the Delhi High Court that India’s embassy in the United Arab Emirates received official communication from the UAE government on 28 February 2025. Communications said that the death sentence of Shehzadi was executed on February 15, 2025 as per laws and rules.
On the same day, the embassy informed Shabbir Khan, the father of Shahzadi Khan, about his execution confirmation. They were also informed that the family could come to the UAE by 5 March, 2025, to attend their funeral. Additionally, a dedicated mobile number was provided to Mr. Khan to contact the Indian Embassy, Mea said.
Shahzadi Khan, a 33 -year -old woman from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, was facing execution in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
He was imprisoned in Abu Dhabi’s Al Wathba Jail and was sentenced to death by a court for the death of a child under his care.
The petition through Advocate Ali MD Maz stated that in December 2021, Shabir Khan’s daughter received a visa and traveled to Abu Dhabi with a transit in Dubai. In August 2022, his employer gave birth to a son, for which Shabbir’s daughter was appointed as a career. On December 7, 2022, the infant received regular vaccination and died tragically that evening.
The hospital recommended a postmortem, but the infant’s parents refused and further investigation signed a consent letter, stating in the petition.
It was further stated that in February 2023, a video recording allegedly shown Shabbir’s daughter confessing to killing the infant, a confession that she claims that her employer was taken out through torture and abuse. On February 10, 2023, he was handed over to the Abu Dhabi police, and on July 31, 2023 he was sentenced to death for killing the infant.
His appeal was rejected in September 2023, and the death sentence was upheld on 28 February 2024. After the dismissal, Shabbir Khan demanded apology proceedings through the Indian Embassy, but received a reply regarding an unrelated case. He filed a new mercy petition in May 2024.
On July 11, 2024, he carried forward a mercy petition for the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, but received no response. On 14 February 2025, Shabbir Khan received a call from his disorganized daughter, suggesting an adjacent execution. He then filed a formal request with the Ministry of External Affairs on February 20, 2025, demanded an inquiry into his legal status and good, but no update was received.
