Taking to Twitter, the actor wrote, “Emotionally I hope the appeal is accepted and Vinesh is awarded the silver but I also feel it is unfair to all the other athletes who have previously been disqualified under similar circumstances. I am deciding to accept it and move on but it’s not really about how I feel. This must be unimaginably devastating for Vinesh and her team. As a fellow Indian I say thank you champion!!! Stay healthy Vande Mataram (sic).”

This post is as follows:

After being disqualified, Phogat wrote a heartbreaking note on her official X account, in which she announced her retirement. She said that she is defeated and has lost courage.

,ma wrestling (Mom, wrestling) won over me, I lost. Forgive me, your dream and my courage are broken. I don’t have the strength anymore. Goodbye wrestling 2001-2024,” she wrote in the post.

However, Vinesh will go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to appeal to be recognised as the joint silver medallist in the event. The result is likely to be announced after 5 pm today, August 8.
