Google Meet has released a major update that will simplify virtual meetings by allowing automatic transcription and recording of sessions. The new feature aims to ensure that users don’t miss any important details from their meetings, even if they forget to record or take notes manually. This update is expected to be released to Google Workspace users in the coming days, although administrators may need to enable it first.

The update introduces three important settings. The first allows automatic transcription of all meetings, giving users a written record of everything discussed. The second option automatically records meetings by default, ensuring that both visual and audio content is stored. However, participants or hosts can still opt-out during the session if they do not wish to be recorded or transcribed.

For users with Workspace accounts equipped with the Gemini AI add-on, there is an additional feature. Meet’s Gemini note taking capabilities can now automatically summarize meetings, capturing key points for easy reference. This provides teams with a quick way to review important discussions without having to sift through lengthy transcripts or recordings.

This update comes as a boon for professionals who depend on video conferencing for work and forget to record important discussions. It also addresses privacy concerns by giving participants the option to disable recording or transcription if needed.

Apart from this, Google has recently added a new feature for Meet users, which is very useful. The company has made it easy to switch devices during a call. The new feature is called “Switch Here.”

Announcing the feature in a blog post, Google wrote, “In today’s world, our work can happen from multiple locations, across multiple devices. Starting today, you can hop on a Google Meet call without having to hang up and reconnect across devices.” Can be transferred easily.” ,
