In short
- Fastag Annual Pass Banner is now live on the official NHAI site
- The purchase list for the same will be available from August 15
- Users whose fastags are still associated with temporary numbers will need to update their information
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken the first step towards launching its new Fastag annual pass by listing it on its official website. Although the pass is not yet available to buy, a banner is live with important information such as the value, use limit and validity. The official rollout will be on August 15, when India’s Independence Day is celebrated. The new pass is to make the highway travel easier for those who often use private vehicles. Instead of paying toll fee each time, the eligible users will be able to pay the one -time fee and enjoy a limited number of trips or free travel for a fixed time period.
Fastag Annual Pass: What is this, legitimacy, when it will work, other details
Fastag Annual Pass is a prepaid scheme designed to reduce toll problems for non-commercial vehicle users. According to the current details, the pass will allow 200 toll-free trips or will be valid for one year from the date of activation, which also comes first. Once reaching any of these limits, the user’s Fastag will automatically switch back to the regular pay-use system.
This pass will only work directly on the toll plaza directly by NHAI. It will not be accepted on state highways, roads operated by private agencies, or state-driven expressway. Therefore, users should ensure that their regular routes come under NHAI coverage before selecting for this scheme.
Who can apply?
This annual pass is only for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans. Not all fastag users will be able to buy it. There are some conditions that should be met:
-Vahan will have to install an active fastag on its windshield.
-A fastag should be combined properly with full vehicle registration number (VRN), not just a chassis number.
-Bag should not be blacklist or flies for any dispute.
Users whose fastags are still associated with temporary numbers will need to update their information before the application process starts.
Fastag Annual Pass: How to apply and where to buy
Once the pass is available from August 15, users will be able to buy it from official government platforms. These include Rajmarg Yatra Mobile App and NHAI websites and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (Morth). People are advised to avoid using third-party websites or apps to prevent the scam.
The application process will be completely online. Here is how it will work:
1. Confirm that your fastag is active and is associated with a valid VRN.
2. Visit the official Rajmarg Yatra app or NHAI website.
3. Enter your vehicle and Fastag details.
4. Pay the fee of Rs 3,000 once using available digital payment options.
5. After successful verification, the pass will be active and you will get a confirmation through SMS.
How does the journey count work
The number of trips will be tracked based on the toll system used. On the point-based toll plaza (open system), every one-way crossing matters as a trip. So, a return journey in a single day will be counted as two trips. On closed systems, where charged to exit toll out of the toll, the entire journey will be considered a journey.
What happens after the pass ends?
When the user completes 200 trips or crosses a time limit of one year, the annual pass will end automatically. Fastag does not need to be replaced. This will return to normal mode and the toll will be cut from the user’s Fastag wallet on a per-trip base. If someone wants to renew the plan, they can buy a new pass after the same process.
