Dreame L10s Ultra Robot Vacuum Review: Decent Mop and Vacuum Combo

Robot vacuum cleaners have started gaining popularity in the post-Covid era. In addition to maintaining cleanliness to limit the spread of bacteria and viruses, adopting a work-from-home environment has forced us to keep our space clean and tidy at all times. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into household appliances has helped major brands load their robotic vacuums with smarter sensors. With many notable features like mapping capabilities, self-cleaning mechanisms and cameras, these machines have become less of a luxury and more of a necessity.

Xiaomi-backed Dream, which manufactures a range of smart home devices, recently unveiled the Dreame L10s Ultra for this competitive market. The cost of which is Rs. 74,999 in India, this robotic vacuum cleaner can self-empty and self-clean and provides automatic dust collection, mopping and drying support.

However, it is now discounted and sold at a much lower price (Rs 58,999) on Amazon, so keep an eye on this e-commerce listing, making it an even more interesting buy.

Dreame L10s Ultra: What’s in the Box

The retail box of the Dreame L10s Ultra is quite heavy as it comes in a package weighing around 13 kilograms (the base station weighs 8.9 kilograms while the robot weighs 3.7 kilograms). In addition to the robot and base station, the box includes two rotating mop pads, a bristleless rubber brush, a filter cleaning brush, a power cord, a multi-surface floor cleaner and a dust bag. The brand has packed an extra dust bag with the device. Dream claims that one dust bag will last up to 60 days of cleaning, but you’ll have to buy more later, priced at 4,199 for four and a set of new accessories (one roller brush, two side brushes, two filters), six mop pads and two dust bags) cost Rs. 7,990 has been kept. Given the overall price, a few more extra accessories could have been included.

Setting up the Dreame L10s Ultra is painless. The mop pads can be connected to the built-in magnet, while the side brush can be clipped to the underside of the unit. After filling and inserting the fresh water tank and cleaning detergent, the base station can be plugged into a power source. The device can be controlled remotely using the DreamHome or Mi Home apps. Alternatively, you can connect it to Wi-Fi to access it with Alexa and Google Home.

The Dream L10s Ultra features a premium round design with a white finish and a front-mounted camera for navigating the room. The disc-shaped cleaning robot has a vertical module for inbuilt LIDAR on top for navigation system. It has three buttons on top: spot cleaning, power (or clean) and dock, and these can be used to perform key functions without the need for a mobile phone. It has a flexible bumper and includes a laser distance sensor (LDS), an AI visual sensor and a line laser sensor. They identify the blocks in the way and show them on the map.

In a first run, the Dreame L10s Ultra uses its AI-backed RGB camera and 3D structured light to create a 3D map for spotting obstacles on the floor. It remembers different hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and dining areas by finding pieces of furniture, walls or cupboards on the floor. We can create multiple maps for multi-floor homes and set no-go zones from the phone through a paired app. The robotic vacuum cleaner took about five minutes to map a 1,200-square-foot apartment. Although it treated as part of my bedroom as the dining area in the first run, the mapping is impressively accurate.

Dearme L10s Ultra’s paired app is loaded with customization options. The main screen of the application shows the charging and cleaning status of the robots. You can schedule cleaning cycles, vacuum or mop, or both in specific rooms or zones, and create no-go zones for areas you don’t want cleaned. It can be sent to a specific room for vacuuming, mopping or both tasks together. Users can adjust the humidity level and suction power. This can be regulated according to each area; Isn’t that smart?

Dreame L10s Ultra Review: Cleaning and Performance

The main feature of Dreamebot L10s Ultra is self-cleaning mop and auto-emptying system. The robot automatically dries the mops and adds water and cleaning solution. The station automatically refills detergent and water and supplies the robot hoover with liquid for mopping work through a small tank. It is equipped with AI features and smart navigation to avoid collisions with walls and obstacles. To prevent children from getting their hands on the vacuum cleaner, you can activate the child lock by pressing and holding the Leave and Dry button on the base station. Also, during setup, it asks questions about pets to maximize cleaning and avoid potential pet accidents around the house during cleaning tasks.

The Dreame L10s Ultra’s onboard camera provides cleaning status while you’re away. I found it effective when it got stuck in a mattress or between the tangled straps of my crossbag. This doubles as a security camera and will especially benefit pet owners. You must set a four-digit activation code to set up the built-in RGB camera. It offers two-way audio, prompting it to vacuum while you’re at work. It cleans an area of three meters in two minutes.

Dreame L10s Ultra’s AI sensor allows it to walk even on carpets. Compared to normal rolls, it effectively picks up loose dust from small mats thanks to its 5,300Pa suction power and bristleless rubber brush. He picks up his broom when he finds a carpet or mat. There are multiple options with better suction power, but I found this to be sufficient for regular household dirt pick-up. It sometimes varies its suction power to remove debris from the carpet. The device is very noisy at this point, and I can still hear it at work, even from a different room. Loud noise is the main problem with setting the vacuum at the highest suction. The station, however, is quiet enough. The bot speaks aloud what it’s doing when starting or returning from the dock to clean the mops or recharge the battery. Additionally, the location of the robot can be viewed on a map while cleaning is in progress. It can be easily located.

As someone with waist-length hair, I would appreciate Dream choosing a bristleless rubber brush, as it ideally prevents hair from getting tangled and stuck around the brush. The side brush, however, often gets tangled up in strands, which I cleaned up after a few runs. Therefore, it is supposed to work effectively with pet hair. It automatically detects changes in floor type while running. While running the robot recognized the ceramic tiles in my utility area with a coarse texture and adjusted the behavior accordingly.

The Dreame L10s Ultra’s base station water tank has a 2.5-liter capacity while the robot carries 80ml of water, so, it doesn’t frequent the base station while cleaning unless the battery is running low in the middle of a cleaning job. After mopping, the robot returns to the charging station and the mops are automatically cleaned on the dock with cold water to remove odors. This may be less effective than using hot water. The dirt will then reach the base station’s waste water tank and can be removed manually. Mops shall be dried with hot air after cleaning. Using Dualboost 2.0 technology, the device blows air into the robot’s dust box and vacuums it into a dust bag in the station. This dirt is stored in a dust bag in the base station and can be emptied manually when instructed. Dream claims one bag will last 60 days of cleaning, I was nowhere near done in the two weeks of testing. Other maintenance includes opening the brush tray, removing it, and cleaning the dirt that has accumulated on the sides.

For charging, the Dreame L10s Ultra docks into a docking station. The app displays battery life and the battery lasts up to 160 minutes vacuuming and mopping an 800 carpet area (1,175 sq ft) flat without the need for a charging break. It is worth noting that the messy room offers a perfect vacuum and mopping job.

Dreame L10s Ultra Review: The Verdict

If you’re looking for a fully automatic robot vacuum mop that requires no cleaning effort on our part, consider the Dreame L10s Ultra, which comes with less manual maintenance. The self-draining feature adds a hefty amount to the price tag but is justified considering the existing functions of the premium models (Dream L20 Ultra). The vacuuming and mopping functions are effective, and the robot hoover offers the option to use it as a moving surveillance camera. Although the cost of the robot is Rs. 74,999, be aware that there are ongoing costs with this robot, such as accessory replacement and approved cleaning solution. If you have mostly carpeted floors in your home, this is not the best choice. For pet parents with large homes with a variety of floors and shedding animals, it’s worth considering. If you can in terms of price tag, the L10s Ultra is among the best options you can buy today.
