Donald Trump walks out of interview after being pressed to provide evidence on how Biden rigged 2020 election: ‘I’ve had enough’

US President Donald Trump abruptly ended a television interview with NBC’s Meet the Press after a heated argument with moderator Kristen Welker over his repeated claims that the US elections were rigged. The interview focused on Trump’s allegations about the 2020 presidential election and his concerns over the vote counting in California. The discussion eventually turned into a confrontation, with Trump accusing the media of dishonesty before removing his microphone and walking away. The exchange began as Trump defended his proposed “anti-gunfire fund,” a plan he previously announced to compensate people who believe they were unfairly targeted by the Biden administration. The proposal is stalled after the Department of Justice (DOJ) said it would not move forward.Trump said, “As I understand it, the Arms Fund was going to set up a group of people, people anyone could pick, fair people, smart people, and they would go on an individual case basis.”POTUS continued: “Now I don’t know what’s going to happen with the armaments fund. I like the idea because people like you fake dirty press, crooked press, stupid Biden, he’s not smart enough to know what’s going on, but the people who surrounded him, surrounded his beautiful steadfast desk in the Oval Office, what they did to people’s lives, they destroyed people. They sent people to jail who did nothing wrong.“Welker challenged the president’s claims, saying no evidence was presented to support them. As he attempted to move on to a question about Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and the future of the fund, Trump interrupted.“Listen to me: There is overwhelming evidence,” he said.He added, “There is nothing but evidence. The election was rigged. It was a dirty election and it’s happening again right now in California.” It’s happening in California, right now. Look what’s happening in California.”Welker repeatedly asked Trump to provide evidence. The president instead pointed to the slow pace of vote counting in California, where several races remained undecided days after the election.Welker responded, “Republicans are doing well in California.”Trump responded, “No, they’re not. They’re losing fast because it’s a rigged election.” “Let me tell you, it’s been four days and they’re not even close.”When Welker said California allows ballots to be mailed in until Election Day, a process that often delays final results, Trump responded: “You know why they’re doing that? Because they’re committing election fraud.”Asked if he had evidence, Trump said, “I just have to see. I just have to look and listen, and I listen to people and let’s see what happens.”The interview became tense as the pair argued over election procedures and media coverage. Trump accused election officials, television networks and journalists of being dishonest. He told Welker, “No, they’re crooked. They’re crooked, just like you’re crooked. Your press is crooked and Meet the Press is crooked.”When she responded, “Frankly, I’m not crooked, but come on…”, Trump responded: “Really? Well, so you play right into their hands. “You’re either crooked or stupid.”As Welker continued to ask for evidence, Trump repeated his allegations and criticized news organizations. He said, “Your polls are crooked and you are crooked and meeting the press is crooked, and ABC, CBS and CNN are crooked.” “You’re a one-sided crooked network. Let’s stop this because I’ve had enough. Thank you, love.”Trump then removed his microphone and ended the interview. Welker urged her to stay, noting that she had gone to Wisconsin for the talks. The President defended his decision, saying, “I have given you enough time. You must correct your press because you know a country can never become great with a dishonest press.”He then walked out, ending the interview abruptly.
