Here are 5 reasons why you might feel tired after waking up

If you feel tired as soon as you wake up in the morning, then the reason for this could be your lifestyle. Dietitian Shweta J Panchal has given some reasons due to which you do not feel fresh as soon as you wake up in the morning.

1. Lack of sleep

Most of us fall asleep scrolling on our phones. However, it affects our sleep to a great extent. According to experts, phone screens emit blue light which affects the sleep hormone melatonin and suppresses our sleep. It over-stimulates our brain and disrupts our natural sleep cycle, making us feel restless and tired in the morning. Avoid using the phone before bedtime to feel refreshed and energetic.

2. Dehydration

Believe it or not, your daily water intake greatly affects your sleep cycle. According to dietitians, if you don’t drink enough water throughout the day, it can affect the amino acid levels in your body. Without enough amino acids, the process of converting tryptophan to serotonin and then melatonin is disrupted. This means that the melatonin that your body should produce is not produced, leaving you feeling tired and sluggish in the morning.

3. Hormonal imbalance

If you have any kind of hormonal imbalance, especially in your thyroid, it affects your entire metabolism. Experts say that this imbalance not only affects your weight, but also your sleep. You may not get enough sleep, or even if you get sleep, you may feel tired after waking up. If you suspect a thyroid imbalance, see a doctor as soon as possible.

4. Vitamin deficiency

Vitamin deficiencies, especially iron deficiency, can make you feel tired all the time. Moreover, it can affect your mood to a great extent. It is important to maintain adequate iron levels in your body to feel energetic and refreshed throughout the day. If you feel that your iron levels are insufficient, experts suggest a balanced diet or taking iron supplements to meet the daily requirements.

5. High stress levels

Chronic stress can affect your ability to get a good night’s sleep and make you feel tired in the morning. Stress increases the production of cortisol, a hormone that can disrupt sleep patterns, making it difficult to sleep at night. If you feel overwhelmed by stress, try incorporating stress-reducing activities such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises. This may improve your stress levels and sleep quality.
