Taha Shah Badusha, who started his career with the film Luv Ka The End in 2011, made headlines earlier this year in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Taha played the role of Tajdar Baloch in the Netflix series. After the release, his performance was highly praised by critics and fans.
But did you know that Bhansali had once rejected Taha Shah and later offered him the lead role of Tajdaar in Hiramandi?
When Bhansali rejected Taha Shah for the role
According to a recent interview with Filmfare, Taha Shah Badusha was initially not cast for Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. He got another role before Tajdar Baloch. But, Sanjay Leela Bhansali rejected him and asked him to look for other opportunities.
The Heeramandi star received a call and learnt that he might not get the role as the filmmaker has decided to go in another direction.
Taha Shah told how he was desperate and was pleading with Bhansali at his office
The report further states that Taha Shah was extremely saddened by the news and rushed to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office. The Luv Ka The End actor started pleading Bhansali to consider him for the role before the director could say anything.
Bhansali pacified Taha by telling him that he had another role in mind. The filmmaker wanted him to try for Tajdar Baloch.
Taha called it the best surprise of his life and promised to give his best for the lead role in Heeramandi.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a “perfectionist”: Taha Shah
In the same interview Taha Shah Badusha praised Hiramandi director Sanjay Leela Bhansali saying that he is a perfectionist.
“I wouldn’t say he’s a hard taskmaster. To be honest, I am a hard taskmaster too. If you want to be something in life, you have to be a hard taskmaster. It’s not a negative thing,” he said.
The Heeramandi star added, “This is the most positive thing because a person who loves his work can be passionate about it. It’s not anger, it’s passion. There’s love in their teeth too.”
Heeramandi also starred Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Segal, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shekhar Suman and others. The series was released on May 1, 2024.
