Devara Part 1, directed by Koratala Siva and starring Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, finally crossed the Rs 400 crore mark at the worldwide box office on its 25th day. The film faced mixed response and performed very strong to emerge as a global super-hit venture. It is currently the second highest-grossing Tollywood film of 2024 behind Kalki 2898 AD, and is likely to become the third highest-grossing Tollywood film of this year behind Kalki 2898 AD and Pushpa: The Rule.
Devara Part 1 joins Rs 400 crore global club
Advance bookings for Devara Part 1 started with a bang and the film took a stellar global opening of around Rs 132 crore. The weekend trend of the film was good but the decline in the film’s earnings on weekdays was a bit worrying. The weekday breakdown suggests that the Jr NTR starrer vehicle will earn Rs 350 crore worldwide. However, just when it seemed the film had lost its momentum, it started putting in a very strong late performance. It grossed over Rs 100 crore after the first week and is excellent. The lack of significant competition in the Dussehra period helped the Koratala Siva directorial to move towards the Rs 400 crore global mark. Devara Part 1 was valued at around Rs 180 crore and the global share is currently a little over Rs 200 crore.
The makers of Devara Part 1 will hope for a strong sequel performance and an encouraging non-theatrical reception for their film in Hindi
Devara Part 1 has performed well with a final earning of Rs 57-58 crore in Hindi. Hindi film audiences are very selective about what they watch these days. Despite this, a good number of them have come to see sea adventures. Yes, a breakout is missing but an encouraging satellite and digital reception may come in handy. Since every party is involved in making money on the film, there is no reason to delay starting work on the second part of Devara.
