Chhawa: The descendants of Chhatrapati want the historian to pass the film before the release
Amid opposition from some Maratha bodies, former MP and descendants of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj said that they have asked the makers of Vicky Kaushal Ki Chhava to consult historians before the film’s release. A song by Vicky and Rashmika Mandana has been objected to.

Former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraj Chhatrapati, who is also a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, suggested on Friday that the makers of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhawa should watch historians to watch their films before its release. He told the media that director Laxman Utekar recently showed him the trailer, after which he told him to include some historians to watch the film “to remove impurities”.
However, Sambhajiraje said that the manufacturers have not consulted any historian yet. This discussion emerged when a glimpse of a song was seen in the trailer. It featured Vicky and Rashmika Mandana performing with the traditional musical instrument ‘Lezim’ representing the Maharashtrian culture.
Talking to news agency PTIThe former MP shared that he also told the producers about his desire to watch the film before release. He said, “It is commendable that the film throws light on the life and heroic reign of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Director Laxman Utekar and his team showed me the trailer of the film. I told him that I would like to watch the entire film before release.”
He further said, “I also offered to connect them with historians to ensure that this important story was introduced to the audience around the world.

Sambhajiraje mentioned the use of lezim in a song by Vicky and Rashmika. The former MP said that he knows that the producers are taking ‘cinematic freedom’ to make the film more attractive, but he wants Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s representation to be ‘appropriate’ and ‘dignified’.
“Although filmmakers have not yet interacted with historians. While lezim is an important part of our cultural heritage, it is necessary to discuss whether to take such cinematic freedom to conform to the dignity and historical depiction of Sambhaji Maharaj. Is.
His statement came in Pune a few hours after some Maratha organizations protests against the dancing sequence in the film. One of the protesters stated what Sambhajiraj was later emphasized in an interview: showing the film to historians and taking his ‘green signal’ before release.
The protesters also threatened to stop the film’s release in Maharashtra until consultation from historians.
Chhava, including Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta and Neil Bhupalam, are coming on screen on 14 February. It is produced by Dinesh Vija’s Madock Films.
