Chhatha Pacha review: Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew starrer is wild and nostalgic action film, let down by weak story

Chhatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies, starring Arjun Ashokan and Roshan Mathew in the lead roles, was released in theaters on January 22, 2026. After making a splash at the box office, the action-comedy film is now available for streaming on Netflix.

If you’re planning to watch the film online this week, here are the details about its streaming release.

plot

Chhatha Pacha is the story of three brothers, in whose city there once was a wrestling clan. As their lives progress, the three decide to team up with their friends and start a wrestling club that primarily focuses on costume fighting, similar to WWE.

What follows is a conflict-filled and action-packed journey in which many hidden rivalries come to light. As the wrestling club grows, the group of misfits face greater challenges, turning their battles into a mix of comedy, action, heart, and survival.

Good

Chhath Pacha is a great treat for wrestling fans, as it offers many exciting action moments. The inclusion of WWE-style elements makes for engaging storytelling, with major conflicts unfolding as a lively mix of comedy and action.

Although the script falters at some points, the humor and action are top notch. However, the story, especially the dramatic portions, seem weak and do not hold the audience’s attention as intended.

Talking about other positive aspects, the film largely depends on the acting of Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew and Vishakh Nair. From a technical point of view, the film benefits from a musical track composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and a background score by Mujeeb Majeed.

Furthermore, the visuals and editing effectively support the storytelling.

bad

Chhath Pacha suffers from ineffective storytelling mainly due to weak writing. While the story and screenplay have their share of humor, the overall impact feels underwhelming, as the dramatic stakes never live up to their potential.

Moreover, the execution of Chhath Pacha remains substandard in some parts. Additionally, the forced inclusion of Mammootty’s cameo feels dated. However, it appears that the superstar has fixed the dubbing issues in the OTT version compared to the theatrical release.

Display

The sixth Pacha performs strongly in terms of its key performance. Arjun Ashokan largely carries the film, with Vishakha Nair capturing the screen with his strong presence as the antagonist.

Decision

Chhatha Pacha is fun and wild in its presentation, offering a sense of nostalgia in its storytelling. Although the film has many enjoyable and memorable moments, it ultimately leaves a lot to be desired.
