Making turnip bharta is very easy! Here’s how to do it, thanks to the recipe shared by @dillifoodies on Instagram:
1. Prepare the turnips
Wash and peel 5-6 turnips, then cut them into cubes. Pour some water in a pressure cooker, boil it and add chopped turnips. Cook for 3-4 whistles, then when the pressure releases, mash the turnips.
2. Prepare the masala
– Heat oil in a pan, then add chopped onion and cook on medium flame. When they become light brown, add chopped tomatoes, ginger and green chillies. Cook until tomatoes become soft, then add salt, red chili powder and coriander powder. Let the spices cook on low flame until the oil separates.
3. Mix the ingredients
Add mashed turnip and a pinch of sugar to the masala. Stir everything together and cook for another 5-7 minutes so that the flavors meld. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve!
