With more people who rely on your smartphone for everything from banking to social media, keeping your personal data safe has become more important than ever. Android 16 is set to introduce advanced safety mode, a new security facility, aimed at molding users with strong safety settings by closing their equipment with strong safety settings. Once capable, this mode will automatically apply a series of safety measures to make the device more secure – especially useful for those who cannot always dig deep in security settings.

According to a report by Android authorityAdvanced security mode can already be tested on Android 16 Beta 4 on devices like Google Pixel 9. Once the feature is live, the user will be able to find and activate it through a simple tole in the settings app. The moment it is turned on, many underlying conservation kicks, many of which cannot be replaced individually-it creates a more strong form of security that prefer protection on adaptation.

Advanced security mode is designed to provide a comprehensive shield against common hazards. For example, it will block the unsafe network connection by disabled 2G support and preventing the use of old Wep Wi-Fi network. This type of connection is easy for hackers to exploit, so closing them helps reduce the risk of snuping or attacks. However, 2G may still be accessible in emergency situations, such as when you need to call a crisis.

Advanced safety mode will also prevent the installation of apps from outside the Google Play Store – which is usually known as sideloading – a step that should accidentally stop users from installing harmful apps. In addition, it activates something called memory tagging extensions (MTE), which helps in capturing issues related to bug and memory in apps, which improves overall device safety.

Mode adds additional protection to even normal apps. Google messages and phones are already set by Google to work with advanced security, offering features to detect spam and scams. Stolen detection lock and offline device lock will help keep your phone safe, whether it is lost or stolen and locked down and blocked unauthorized access.

Thanks to a new Advancedprotectionmanager API introduced in beta versions before Android 16, the app developers will also be able to find out when this mode is capable. This means that apps – especially banking or safe communication equipment – can adapt and provide additional safety features for users who have turned on it.

Another useful feature is related to web browsing. If you land on a non-HTTTPS page, which may be unsafe, the system will issue a warning. Android safe browsing, which alerts you about suspicious or harmful websites, is also part of the package.

Google first began working on this feature in October 2024, and it gradually appeared in a couple of Android 16 beta updates. A wider release is expected to roll out in its stable form once Android 16 is likely to be in the coming weeks. Google is expected to show more details during its next episode Android show On 13 May, further announcements at the company’s annual I/o developer conference.
