better late than never. Amazon India on Tuesday confirmed that it will soon – in fact this month – launch an instant commerce platform and deliver essential goods in 15 minutes. The plan is to first launch Tez in select locations, after which Tez delivery will be expanded. Amazon is under a lot of pressure from instant commerce companies like Blinkit and Zepto and the company hopes 15-minute delivery will help it get its mojo back.

“People prefer to see essentials come to them rather than going out, sitting in their car and shopping. Instant commerce is a game of convenience,” Kumar said. “What we’re going to do is have our own (instant commerce) offering. We’ll have our own offering of essential items that users will get in 15 minutes in the coming weeks. Its code name has already been leaked, and it’s called Amazon says it’s coming this month.”

Kumar tackled the perception that Amazon is late to the booming business. “With our wide selection, value-driven approach and innovative use of AI for decision making, we are confident in our ability to compete and better serve customers,” he said.

20 lakh jobs

Kumar made his comments at the fifth edition of the Amazon Possible Summit, where the company also talked about its other initiatives in India. Among the many announcements, one major announcement was related to jobs in India. Amazon on Tuesday announced important plans to boost employment in India. The e-commerce giant reaffirmed its pledge to help create 20 lakh jobs in India by 2025 through its operations, primarily by helping in the development of seller networks and delivery ecosystem.

Amazon highlighted that since announcing its effort to help create jobs in India in 2020, the company has made steady progress. It shared that the company has already created around 1.4 million direct and indirect jobs across various sectors including e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing and technology.

Desh K Kumar said, “By enabling small businesses to integrate into the digital economy, we have created concrete opportunities for job creation across the country. This is just the beginning, as we achieve our target of 2 million jobs by 2025.” Look forward to doing.” Manager at Amazon India.
