Actor Shivkarthikeyan on Madharai: It is a Murugados film and I am in it
After the success of the blockbuster of ‘Amarran’, Shivkartayakan has taken a new challenge with an action thriller ‘Madharasi’ directed by AR Murugadoss. In an interview with India Today, he discussed ‘Madharasi’, doing action films, discovery of Tamil cinema for Rs 1000 crore and for satisfaction he received as a producer.

Shivrathayyan’s striking cameo in Tamil cinema was born in ‘Bakri’ with Thalapathi Vijay. When Vijay handed him a gun to him, it was almost like passing by Baton near Baton to pursue his legacy. By now cut, Shivkartikyan is doing ‘Madharsi’ in which guns play an important role. However, this is a crazy coincidence according to him.
Talking to India today, he said, “I acted in ‘Bakri’ when ‘Madarasi’ was about 75 percent. I acted in that scene with Thalapati Vijay and told Murugados Sir about it. He was very excited. It was a divine intervention.”
After the huge success of ‘Amarran’, Shivrathayikyan is ready for his next large release, ‘Madharasi’, directed by AR Murugados. In a clear interview, actor Murugdos’ action-pack opens about the world, stardom pressure and fittings in their developed career options.
Action hero hugging avatar
Sivakartheikeyan made it clear that ‘Madharsi’ symbolizes a significant departure from its comfort field. “Madharasi” is not a full comedy film. In the initial parts, there will be a little fun and love and then you have to go into action mode. It’s a Murgados film, and I am in it. If we try to balance it, we get trapped. It’s only appropriate that I need to be fit in their style of filmmaking, “he said.
The actor admitted that this is an unknown area for him – “I have not taken such intensive action earlier. ‘Amaran’ was a biopic with a gunfight, but ‘Madarashi’ is a commercial mass recreational.”
Working with a famous director has been a fresh experience for him. Recalling the shooting experience, he said, “Working with Murugados sir is so easy, there is no stress on the set. He is a comfortable man, always calms and compositions.”
Story behind ‘Madharsi’
When asked about the story of the film, Shivkarthiikeyan revealed, “Will talk about ‘Madharasi’ guns. It revolves the story of a Northern Indian villain who faces a man in Madras. The film addresses an important topic that warns people. It is not a message-rice film.”
The actor is particularly excited about the emotional depth of his character. In “Madharai”, my character has a different feature. It has many beats of emotions and acute sequences. When my character says, ‘Touch Me If You Can’, it does not come from the place of Bravado. The 15 -minute emotional sequence occurs before the scene and it creates or breaks the scene. “
Post -‘Maran’s expectations and box office pressure
After the unprecedented success of ‘Amarran’, who crossed Rs 350 crore worldwide, Shivkarthikeyan addressed the pressure to give another blockbuster: “When I did ‘Amaran’, many people told me that it will not work in a biopic form. I can not work in an army film.
His approach to box office expectations is refreshed. “Collection and box-office numbers are the same that decide the audience. We cannot gauge them. We cannot do a film thinking that the film will rake for 200 crores. There are many calculations that go into it. I think I think there are only about things that are under our control,” she said.
The actor’s focus is on crafts and the engagement of the audience – “The pressure I take is to draw the attention of the audience for two hours and 40 minutes in an AR Murugdos film.”
From Shahrukh Khan to Shivrathiq
The project has an interesting backstory consisting of Raja Khan of Bollywood. Sharing the same, he said, “Murugados sir then had an idea – he did not hear the whole script to him.
Pan-India ambitions and market challenges
While discussing the Pan-India Market, Shivkarthikeyan highlighted practical challenges. “I think our main content needs to be strong. We dub our films to take it to other parts of the country. A film will go to Pan-Indian, only if the content clicks. The main problem is that if we want to release in the Hindi market, we have to sign the 56-day OTD deal. We cannot release the OTTs of four-week.”
His stance on PAN-India release is practical. “I won’t push for a pan-India release until the producer takes the decision. In the future, if I find such a story, I will find out that opportunity,” he explained.
Developing as an actor and producer
Sivakartheikeyan’s career trajectory showed his constant desire to experiment. Extending more about my decisions, he said, “I was committed to ‘Madharsi’ before ‘Amaran’. I think about style and how different each story is. Comedy is my fort, but I do not want to do it and cursed. I want to find a dark comedy, biopic and other style.”
As a producer, he gets a different kind of satisfaction: “The films in which I headline as a hero and the films I do as a hero are different. I think a film like ‘Kottukali’ is rare. I enjoy this balance. I like the stories I like.
Tamil cinema’s dream of 1000 crores
Addressing the ambitious target of Tamil cinema, Shivrathaikayan said, “In two or three years, we will be able to achieve it. There are some reasons that we have not given a film of Rs 1000 crore yet. Compared to other states, the ticket rate in Tamil Nadu is low. We are not able to operate completely, which we are not able to work in four-week-winds, that is why we are not able to work in four-week. it.”
As ‘Madhrasi’ prepares for release, the development of Shivkarthikeyan for a versatile artist from a comedy actor is capable of carrying action entertainers, indicating an exciting stage in his career. With Ar Murugadoss, the film, which the audience expect, promises to demonstrate a new aspect of the actor’s range, distributing that commercial entertainment.
