The iPhone 17 50W is likely to support wireless charging and Apple is making special magsafe charger for this
As the iPhone 17 series launchs close to inch, a new leak suggests that the line-up will sport 50W wireless charging.
Listen to the story

In short
- The iPhone 17 series is expected to be launched in September 2025
- The upcoming line-up is estimated to facilitate 50W wireless charging
- The iPhone 16 lineup supports 25W wireless charging up to charging
Apple is getting ready for a big jump in wireless charging, and it can begin with your next magsef charger. If you ever want your iPhone will charge a rapid charge for a cable without any fee, Apple may soon make that dream a reality. According to the new regulatory filing, the company is preparing to release the updated Magsef Chargers, which are capable of reaching 50W of wireless power, which exceeds the current Magsef standard. While chargers themselves look similar to their predecessors, the most important wireless charging upgrade Apple can be introduced at any time.
New Magsaf models are coming soon
Two unpublished magsafe charging pads carrying model numbers A3502 and A3503 were recently seen in the National Communications Commission (NCC) database of Taiwan. The first reported by 91mobiles, suggesting that these new pads are made with microscopic differences – mainly the length of their hanging cables: one meter for A3502 and two meters for A3503.
Cosmetic similarities are linked in large difference compliance on one side. The filing indicates that these new charger support the upcoming QI2.2 wireless charging standard, which is expected to be formally declared by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) in the near future.
Qi2.2 and iPhone 17: Magsafe a match in heaven
What does Qi2.2 mean in practice? For one, it unlocks up to 50W wireless charging speed, which is an important collision from the current QI2 roof of 15W. While Apple’s iPhone 16 lineup supports up to 25W wireless charging when added with 30W Magsafe Charger, the devices themselves are not compatible with QI2.1 or upcoming QI2.2 standard.
This is where the iPhone 17 series comes in the game. The rumor is that Apple’s next generation phones will first use the QI2.2 protocol, which will get the benefits of 50W wireless charging speed. This means that topping your phone can finally be wireless as soon as it is above a cable.
Even if you are not planning to upgrade iPhone 17, there is good news. These new Magsafe Chargers are expected to maintain backward compatibility with older models, allegedly supporting each iPhone via iPhone 11 to iPhone 16.
Although these previous models will not benefit from 50W charging speed due to hardware limitations, they will still enjoy improving charging efficiency and magnetic alignment, thanks to the progress in the QI2.2 standard.
Apple’s next move
While Apple has yet officially announced these new Magsafe pads, NCC certification is a strong sign that a launch may be adjacent – potentially in time for the expected start of the iPhone 17 later this year.
For now, the Apple users are ready for rapid, smart and more efficient charging in the near future. And if you are waiting to hit 100%of your battery, then the next wave of Magsef Tech may be only worth upgrading.
