Digital material manufacturer Kushal Tanwar alias Gulu surprised everyone on Sunday night as the winner of the ‘MTV Roadies XX (Double Cross)’. Elvish’s team Gulu faced many failures before succeeding in the popular reality show. Here is an insight into his Dalit story of flexibility amid rejection:
Gulu, who won a prize money of Rs 10 lakh and a hero Karizma bike, performed his talent during the audition. However, he was evicted by his own gang even after affecting the panel, including Elvish, Neha Dhupia, Prince Narula, Riya Chakraborty and Gautam Gulati. Gulu returned as a wildcard entrance, which later won in the final.
Gulu alias Kushal Tanwar’s dramatic victory
After his dramatic return in ‘MTV Roadies XX (Double Cross)’, Gulu was initially a part of Gautam Gulati’s team. Later, for everyone’s surprise, he re -included Elvish’s gang after getting finale tickets. After his victory, Elvish expressed his happiness in an emotional Instagram post. He wrote, “I am completely overwhelmed by emotions now! I am thrilled to declare that my brother Kushal Tanwar (Gulu) and I have won the season of Roadies Double Cross!
Gulu’s rejection and visit to redemption
In addition to breaking betrayal and gang politics in ‘MTV Roadies XX’, Gulu also fought his early struggles before entering the spotlight. Before the 20th season of The Cult Reality Show, he was initially owned by a small cafe. For his disappointment, it closed within months. That shock inspired him for YouTube and ‘Roadies’.
In 2019, he was rejected by ‘Roadies’. However, in 2025, his wildcard entry completely changed the tables. In 2024, Gulu turned to material construction. Humor and swagger echoed with many at his ground level.
