Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is undoubtedly one of the best web shows of this year. Apart from the cast, dialogues and songs, one thing that is garnering praise is its huge and grand sets. In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Heeramandi’s production designer Subrata Chakraborty not only opens up about the reason behind bringing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s vision to life but also about the trolls faced by Sharmin Segal.
Subrata Chakraborty talks about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s vision and Sharmin Segal’s efforts
As much as there are positive things about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s show Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, there is also equal amount of trolling and criticism. Especially, if we talk about Sharmin Sehgal, the actress is facing a lot of criticism for her acting.
Expressing his views on this, production designer Subrata Chakraborty said, “Sir has a vision and he must have thought about it before making the show. Some people like it, some don’t, but he is not a man who will keep making changes again and again.)”
Chakraborty said that Bhansali will only do things that he likes and he never changes. Subrat admitted that even though he gets a lot of messages on these things, he simply deletes them.
The production designer revealed that he used to visit the sets of Heeramandi every day. Speaking further about Sehgal, he said, “I know the effort Sharmin has put in. Sir ke saath kaam karna matlab jitna bada actor hona deej woh try hi karti hai, sir jo soch rahe hai usko puri karna. Usne itna mehndi kiya hoga, ab logon ko paas nahi aaya to hum kuch nahi kar sakte uska. (I know how much effort Sharmin has put in her acting. No matter how big the actors are, they only try to fulfill sir’s wish when working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She has really worked hard but now if the audience won’t watch it (we like it, we can’t do anything about it.)”
Meanwhile, the makers of the show have announced Season 2 of Heeramandi and we are sure fans can’t wait for it to hit the screens soon.
