Shabana Azmi, SS Rajamouli and other Indians invited to join The Academy
Shabana Azmi, SS Rajamouli, Rama Rajamouli, Ritesh Sidhwani and many other Indians were invited to join the academy. They invited 487 people from different fields for the class of 2024.
On June 25, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that they have invited 487 new members. SS Rajamouli, Shabana Azmi, Rama Rajamouli, Ritesh Sidhwani and many others have received invitations to join the class of 2024. The list includes 71 Oscar nominees, including 19 winners.
Apart from the above-mentioned celebrities, invitations have also been sent to cinematographer Ravi Varman, filmmaker Rima Das and ‘Natu Natu’ choreographer Prem Rakshit.
Announcing this, the Academy wrote on Instagram, “We are proud to announce our newest invited members to the Academy!”

If all the invitations are accepted the total membership will reach 10,910, with over 9,000 people eligible to vote.
According to the Academy’s press release, 44 percent of students in the Class of 2024 are women, 41 percent are from underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 56 percent are from 56 countries and territories outside the U.S.
Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said, “We are thrilled to welcome this year’s new members to the Academy. These remarkably talented artists and professionals from around the world have made a significant impact on our filmmaking community.”
Those who are invited by the Academy to multiple branches must select one branch when accepting membership.
